The Bigfork Elementary District has 477 students in grades K-8. The elementary school and the middle school are housed in one building which recently underwent a massive renovation including the addition of a new entrance, office area, science lab, multi-purpose room and 7 new classrooms. There are 43.5 certified teachers and 7 paraprofessionals instructing the K-8 students. In addition to the instructional staff there are maintenance, food service and transportation departments.
The mission for School District #38 is to help all students acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to be individually successful throughout life. In partnership with students, parents, and community, we are committed to having high expectations for all students by maintaining a safe, nurturing environment that promotes success, learning as a lifelong process, responsibility and respect for one another.

Among elements such as a well-articulated curriculum and a safe and orderly environment, the one factor that surfaced as the single most influential component of an effective school is the individual teachers within that school.
